History Of the Port
As Qatar's oldest harbor, Old Doha Port played a vital role in the 1940s, serving as a crucial trade hub to bring in goods from India, Iran, and other areas and supply Doha’s markets. The port continued to serve shipping purposes as the country's main gateway for trade and shipping until 2016.
After Hamad Port in Mesaieed opened and became the main port in the country, the journey of transforming Old Doha Port into a prominent tourist destination and marina for cruise ships and visiting yachts began in 2017, making it an official gateway to Qatar. The port was developed across several phases and opened gradually in 2021, aiming to welcome visitors to the country and provide a unique experience for them, It fully opened during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
